The word game Lex Venture: A Crossword Caper is released. Lex Venture is a word game that mixes mechanics like Scrabble® and Upwords® with elements of puzzle. Developer Interama Games and publisher Bang Out Games announces the game is available online as a free downloadable 1-hour trial and a full unlimited version for US$ 19.99.


Eugene and his friends invented the incredible Word Machine to compete at the school's next Science Fair. But when they go out of to have some snacks, a jealous Thief breaks into the lab, damages the Word Machine and steals all plans and remaining parts! Now the kids have to go after the Thief and retrieve their project before the Fair begins!


Lex Venture: A Crossword Caper is a new approach to the word game genre and is poised to really turn some heads. The player can use letters created by the Word Machine to spell words on the board. Words spelled correctly create paths for the main characters to catch all the parts of the Machine and bonuses. They can also use special items and combo powers.


But it won't be easy, because enemies like the Bully and the Clubber will get in the way, breaking letters and making the task of collecting parts more difficult. The player also has to confront 5 Bosses to get all the stolen plans.


"A word game can be fun for everyone" said Tex Pine, CEO of Interama Games. “Lex Venture also features strategies, puzzle elements and a storyline that will appeal to more than just word game fans". Tex Pine also said that mixing those elements wasn't easy - "It took us more than a year to make the game, because adding elements like movable enemies changes the logic of traditional board crossword games".


The final product is promising. "Lex Venture is an outstanding game and everyone loves it." said Mark Kanter, CEO of Bang Out Games. "Bang Out signed the deal with Interama for Lex last November and provided them some resources to help them complete their game faster". The game also won the Best Story Development award on Innovate 2007 contest held during the Casual Connect meeting in Kiev, Ukraine.
